KANSAS CITY, MO – This year’s outdoor event, “The Crawfish and Shrimp Festival,” will be held beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 27 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, at The Back Yard at The Beaumont Club in historic Westport. Featuring Cajun fare from national and local vendors, live music and a crawfish eating contest, Southern culture will be celebrated at this annual Midwest festival.
Food vendors will be serving crawfish, shrimp, gumbo, jambalaya and other specialty Cajun food. David Luneau, featured chef and owner of Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s JIMBO’S Seafood, will be traveling to the festival to serve his specially-seasoned hand-picked crawfish from his famous custom crawfish cooker that can produce up to 1200 pounds of boiled crawfish an hour.
Zydoco music will be featured both days by headlining band, Lil’ Malcolm and the House Rockers. Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, this five-man-band boasts traditional southern music combining French dance melodies with Caribbean music and blues. Other entertainers will include Kansas City locals Blue Orleans, Ernest James and Washboard Jo.
“We’re excited that this festival is returning, as the Crawfish and Shrimp Festival is one of the premier festivals in Kansas City that crosses all cultural lines,” says Magic 107.3 Program Director and radio personality, Jerold Action Jackson. “The enthusiasm and exhilarating atmosphere is reminiscent of Bourbon Street in New Orleans.”
This event is $5 each day and is open to the public. Tickets are on sale now through all Ticketmaster outlets and at Ticketmaster.com. The crawfish eating contest will be held on Saturday, May 28 at 4 p.m. Email info@
