Love at first bite.
So I have been to a few foodie events where One Bite Japanese Grill has had their Seaweed Salad on sample. I was a little nervous to try it, because I thought “I don’t like seaweed.” To me, it just doesn’t seem like something you should eat. Well, to my surprise it is crunchy and delicious. I am so glad I got up the nerve to try it. The salad is mixed with crunchy noodles and the dressing is the perfect mix of Asian flavors.
I just happened to be over by their location the other day so I thought it would be the perfect time to try it. It was getting close to dinner time and I knew my family was going to be hungry, so I decided to let One Bite do the cooking for me. What a tough decision to decide on what to get. I was glad I needed more than just one meal. After much deliberation I decided on the Ob Cha-Shu Spare Ribs, Chicken Fried Rice and Inaka Chicken. The chicken came with grilled eggplant drizzled with this tasty sauce called Misomayo. The entrée’s are prepared in an open style kitchen and everything is fresh and made to order.
I was going to need the food to go since I was taking it home for everyone, but when I told the waitress that about What You’re Missing KC!, and that if the food was good, I knew I would want to blog about it, she said you must let us plate because the presentations is beautiful. She was right. Everything came out and looked just delicious. I couldn’t wait to taste so I had a few bites of the chicken and it was love at first bite! The waitress was so sweet to then box everything up for me after I got the photo’s I needed.
One Bite offers a variety of items including various kinds of Okonomi-Yaki.
Okonomi-yaki means “grill what you like” in Japanese and is a crispy Japanese omelet mixed with a combination of shredded cabbage and a variety of ingredients, served with Japanese sweet & creamy sauces.
There is also a variety of rice, noodles to go along with many meat and seafood entrees. They offer gluten free items and brown rice upon request. This place is perfect to go to if you or someone you will be dining with has health or diet concerns regarding gluten intolerance or is just very health conscious.
In addition to the restaurant, One Bite has a specialty foods division that has a variety of their sauces for sale. Some of their sauces are MSG and gluten free with no fat or cholesterol and are available at the restaurant and a few locations around the metro. The owner, Erika Koike has just returned from the fancy foods show in NYC where she had the chance to show off her sauces and got quite a response.
One Bite hosts a happy hour at dinner 4:30 - 6:00 PM, Tuesday –Thursday. All Appetizers are $4 with the purchase on an alcoholic beverage or an entrée.
Make sure a visit the One Bite Japanese Grill Website. There are downloadable coupons and information on menu items and sauces.
Well, needless to say, since I am writing this, we all thought the food was really good and to me One Bite Japanese Grill is something I think you’re missing KC!
