Four Stars for Lauren

Another yummy night for another great cause.

The second annual Four Stars for Lauren benefit, a tribute to the late Kansas City Star restaurant critic Lauren Chapin.

Lauren was passionate about supporting local and had a love for food. I have a feeling Lauren and I may have been kindred spirits had we gotten the opportunity to meet.

I am honored to be able to spread the word on this event.

The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 17th in the event space at the Boulevard Brewery, 2501 Southwest Blvd. in Kansas City.

The event is a fundraiser for the newly established "Lauren Chapin Memorial Scholarship Fund" for high school students wishing to continue their culinary education at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, and the BrenMaren College Fund for Chapin's two teenage daughters. A donation will also be made in her name to the Midwest Transplant Network. Upon her death, Chapin was a multiple-organ donor. She died in December 2008 of a brain aneurysm..

The brewery and more than 20 restaurants and eight wine, beer and beverage vendors have donated their food and other services to the event. Enjoy complimentary tastings from the following restaurants (and bid on silent auction items, gift certificates, etc. from many more).
